Alexa Grasso upped her record to 3-0 since moving to flyweight in her last outing, notching a first round submission win over Joanne Wood in the co-main event of UFC on ESPN: Blaydes vs. Daukas.
The rear-naked choke was Grasso’s first submission victory in 17 professional bouts. Wood, meanwhile, has now lost two straight, both having come via rear-naked choke.
Grasso, the fifth ranked women’s flyweight, squares off this weekend against Viviane Araújo in the main event of UFC Fight Night 212.
Araújo, the sixth ranked women’s flyweight, has compiled a 7-2 record inside the octagon, with both losses coming at the hands of former title challengers Katlyn Chookagian and Jessica Eye.
UFC Fight Night: Grasso vs. Araújo is live from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 15.
