I could make a plea to both Diaz brothers, not just Nick, and I can do it through not just Carmen Sandiego references and not just Where’s Waldo…I could even throw in some Guess Who references if you’d like.
Nick has been one of most exciting fighters in my life time and one could go on for days reading excerpts from his Wikipedia page and looking up fights he had in the past (I would suggest BJ Penn or Frank Shamrock).
But for the man who has fought just three times in the last five years; (loss to GSP & Condit, No contest vs. Anderson Silva on steroids), Diaz is taking his sweet time getting back into the octagon after serving a quite ridiculous marijuana suspension.
Over the last week we learned a couple of things from the older Diaz, the first being that he really didn’t like the Tyron Woodley vs Stephen Thompson rematch, and let’s be honest no one liked the finish:
Some pretty typical stuff if you follow a Diaz on social media. We also learned that, according to Nick, he offered the champ Michael Bisping a chance to fight him in a not so innocent ‘tune up fight’ at a catchweight before he fights George St. Pierre.
Before I find myself making the same suggestions as seven months ago, some one please get Nick Diaz a fight at Middleweight or welterweight. Oh screw it, I’ll make some suggestions.
For welter, I still think a Robbie Lawler fight could be inevitable, and Demian Maia could make a fat payoff if he’s willing to forego a title shot for what, the 100th time?
In the middleweight division I would have loved a battle with Bisping, but I don’t see too many names that Diaz would accept as an opponent given that we know he wanted ‘The Count’. For example, I think a bout vs. Uriah Hall would be an exciting Fight Night headliner or co-main of PPV.
Everyone else is tied up at the moment or will be hitting the ring soon, so until we get that “Breaking News” on our feed, I’m forced to ask: Nick Diaz, 🎶where are youuuuu?🎶
